we stayed Saturday night. horrible place. lots of people walking in the dark and some cars coming by. when we were sleeping around 9:30, someone tried to break into the car and hit the car very hard so we woke up, just left some dents. despite this, we stayed (idiots) and 2 hours later the police came to check (routine questions). very friendly police said it was not recommend to stay in that area cause there are many "aldeas" (native towns I guess) and many things happen. at the end we went to YPF close, beautiful and huge place, lots of vans.

Cheap spot at the end of a dirt road. Right on the lost coast which is nice and beach is a 2 minute walk away. Campsites are close together though and it was very windy the night I was there. 7/10, extra points for being so cheap

as it is a resort, it is noisy during the day on weekends, but at night it is super quiet, a safe place. we pay 6 thousand Colombians per person including the car, it provides electricity but with an additional cost. you can use the entire structure of the site including the pool. place for showers only by the pool, clean and individual bathrooms.

Don’t go near the water. Tons of nails cause people burned pallets. Inspect before going further Park up right next to the trail. Slept verry well and had coffee with a fox.

New camping, very beautiful, clean, bathrooms. showers. service area, with trees and pond. Safe place. Staff were still working on the improvements. I recommend.

From both directions, only high clearance 4x4 vehicles with good tires can make it. A couple of hills are extremely steep with lose stones and partly washed out on spots where the concrete stops.

if you’re driving towards Bryce Canyon NP, make an immediate right before the Bryce Canyon NP sign. camp in designated areas only, but there are some large spots (be open to sharing)! we had site 3 to ourselves the first night, and then shared the space with one other car the other two nights. we had a friend get mega stuck in their motor home by coming in the other entrance. be wary if it’s recently rained. in our 2WD van, we had no issues coming down the road directly before the Bryce sign and picking the first spot available. it was hard packed road. there are spots scattered throughout the forest, but it’s insanely muddy and full of ruts right now.

Stayed here for a night. It was great! Tons of room with nice forest views.

We stay one night at that parking, I did not see ANY no parking overnight. We have not experience any problem, the bathroom is open from 8h to 20h very clean, quiet place. Early in the morning some people come to walk with their dog.

This was Exon /Pilot . We parked on the car side and didn't smell any fumes. We got there early and it wasn't busy but in the am all car side spaces were full Bathrooms were clean and free , showers $12.00. Lots of hot food choices, snacks and coffee. Well lit and felt safe.

As noted, many spots on this road. All were taken on a Sunday night in mid may. We went up higher as the road turned tough. More spots but bring leveling blocks. No problem getting a 2WD Sprinter 170 up here.

Nice campground. Very quiet night, no one else was there (just a ranger).

A lot of hiking trails. The big loop was great, but took us 6 hours - take enough water!
We saw 4 different snakes on the trail and monkeys around the campground. Many small birds.

Toilets were good, shower totally fine. They are building 2 new showers at the moment.

Dont pass your car through the bridge, it is not worth it. You can leave it before and walk for 15minutes. The salt water source is beautiful (dont come in weekends).

We had lunch here. Perfect place to stay (I think), nice neighbors.

Awesome spot! Head further down the road and you will be rewarded with an epic view, really.

Apparently not open when we got to the turn off. Road to campsite not maintained and heavily overgrown. River crossing to get further to the camp but the road is in very poor condition so didn't cross. We bush camped at the river crossing.

29000 XOF for a double, only electricity and airco from 19h30 till 6h00. Place has seen better times.

Crossed on Sunday morning Guatemala to El Salvador, 1 1/2 hours total. All generally as described in Lindsay Allison Smith's excellent comment, with the following additions:

-The giant archway with the Guatemala immigration on the left and aduana on the right side is no longer yellow, it is a faded pink color. Park just before it on the right and do your business to exit Guatemala

-All dealings with cancelling the Guatemalan TIP we dealt with in the office on the right side of the arch, we did not have to go back down the road to the other small aduana office on the north side of the road to turn it in.

- We had a bit of a comedy of errors with the El Salvador Aduana. Guatemala keeps your original tip and gives you a stamped copy of the cancelled tip as your receipt when leaving. The El Salvador agent insisted that we needed the original TIP for her to issue us the El Salvador tip. We now believe this may have been an attempt to get us to try to grease the wheels. We ended up going back to Guatemala to ask for the original tip, whereupon the boss of the Guatemala office called his counterpart on the other side and told them to knock it off. Then on The El Salvador side once they agreed to issue the tip they made 3 different errors on the paperwork (license plate#, etc.) Just keep it all smiles and work your way through it, and it works out, just be on the lookout for this behaviour. Everyone was very pleasant during all this.

above oh ridge camp ground, not open yet. just off FS 1S84 . snow packed road so no traffic. lots of sites in this general area. cell coverage very good.

Beautiful place away from the buzz. We had to do some repair on the bikes and stayed 2 nights. Delicious breakfast and lovely hosts. They have a lot of fresh fruits on the farm and produce their own coffee which tastes excellent. We bought some. The apartment is a bit rustic though but the price is adequate and everything else is highly recommended. Sandra +57 (324) 443-1911

A nice small leveled space a little before the main parking of Shangrila valley. Feels more private, but it is visible from dirtroad to the beginning of the track.

If you search online for overnight trails in the Nyanga Mountains (like we did), you find the only option that is called Turaco Trail.
This trail is managed by a private company that is run by a family (a lovely one) with the National park corporation.
This family built the trail (100 km in total) and invested a lot of effort and money in it (the trail and the campsites are well maintained).
You can find the original prices on their website (https://www.turacotrail.co.zw), those were extremely high for us as overlanders with a tight budget, so we talked to them and they were very empathetic to our situation so they made a significant discount for us, we paid in total 75 dollar pp for 3 days (and borrowed the trail map).
We slept the first night at Bernie's campsite and the second at Eddy's Eddy camp, and finished near the Golden Pools camp. We really had a great time, the walk along the Pungwe River included beautiful pools and views.

We really recommend doing this one, but maybe contact them first via email/phone for a custom price.

Perfect place to spend a night on the way to Lima or Cusco. You can park and sleep outside the hall or you can check in and sleep and use the facilities on site. 4200masl, at night it is very cold. Our camper in the morning did not want to turn on due to the altitude and the cold. Different and nice place

So beautiful, peaceful and safe. Fast free open wifi, perfect for swimming and sitting by the creek in pachamama. Recommend!
