This is a maze of rocky logging roads. Its not worth it in my opinion unless you are up for a more 4x4 type adventure.

Amazing free shower in multi use building. Feels super stealthy but quite private. They seem to be on every one of the 5 floors.

Amazing views!! Road up was a bit scary as some of the it has fallen due to heavy rains. We made it up with plenty of room in a rav4. Two other cars at our site but it was very quiet with little traffic nearby. Gorgeous view of the stars. Please please pick up after yourselves so we can all share this gorgeous place.

This is a nice spot if you are passing through and need to sleep. Its right next to the highway but feels a bit private because of trees. Good for a night if you need it. No cell coverage

Incredible bicycle shop in Cusco, Peru called Troy Bicycle Specialist. Troy gave my bike a tune up and clean for a very affordable and fair price. High quality work and highly recommended! Located in central Cusco near the post office.

I can confirm this is the worst corrugated road we've seen so far, it gets better in the north part next to the salinas but most of the road is in quite bad condition, we were on enduro bikes and didn't enjoy it!
No phone service, there are sos antennas but only the first few kilometres. The road is still used by some vehicles anyway

Potable Water and dump next to building. Please respect their property for future users. Someone had cut off the hose when I got here. They came to fix it. Had it been a weekend they would have been closed.

Ótimo lugar para quem tem autonomia de água e energia. Barra ainda é bem tranquila em termos de segurança, então não tem problema em ficar em um lugar isolado.

Beautiful and very quiet place, lots of marine life to spot from your chair.
Basically 2 spots where you can setup camp, one on the higher bank closer to the cliff wall with fire rings. This one is easy for most vehicles. The other one is in the gravel on the beach, but is very soft and needs a 4x4 to get in or out.
This place is perfect for vehicles that cannot make the road further North, see the warning on the map just 1 km away.
We stayed 3 days and saw nobody !!!

We liked it. We had a good kitesurf session here. Small but very good fish restaurant on the beach. Relaxed vibe. You can still camp right on the beach. The restaurant has water for shower and clean pit toilet. We ate at their place and they had no problems with us using it. Friendly young staff.

We didnt need our 4x4.

LEAVING MEXICO: we were told to stop here ONLY if you need to cancel a TIP and/or you arrived into Mexico via plane and are driving out.

We originally drove into Mexico in Nov 22, but had to fly home for a week in May before leaving. Since our latest arrival into Mexico was via plane, we had to stop here and fill out an exit form on our forms before they would stamp our passport with an exit stamp.

I’m not sure where they would have stamped our passports though, if not here.

We got our van registered with a 10 year TIP with no deposit, so we didn’t need to cancel.

Left Mexico with our van and dog (which we adopted in Mexico) and entered Guatemala with no problem.

Bring cash. There are people that will exchange pesos for quetzals. They had the same rate as a ‘casa de cambio’ in San Cristobal.

18Q fumigation fee
110Q dog import fee (make sure you have the certificado de salud from a vet in Mexico, as well as updated vaccines. Info online https://visar.maga.gob.gt/visar/2021/sa/Reqmascotas21.pdf)
160Q vehicle import permit (registered as motorhome)

I am from the United States, and my vehicle is registered there. Only needed my driver’s license, passport, and registration. No title or proof of ownership via a bank loan. They want originals of everything and will copy it.

The actual border crossing is nuts but somehow functions. It’s like a crowded street market that somehow has two way traffic flow. Everyone was super friendly. We went on a Monday morning and were the only car. I can’t imagine what it’s like crowded there.

The process is really back and forth as there is an order for everything and requires different offices and banks… but it works out!

Oh, and they didn’t inspect inside our van.

Got a 90 day TIP and 90 day visa.
