Beautiful pull off on the river. You ca also head further up the FS rod and there are multiple spots in the interior forest. Very quiet. No cell service.

We spent three hours in this museum and still weren’t finished. It was absolutely packed with exhibits and information. As we hadn’t finished by closing time we were offered free entry next day…and it only cost N$30 pp!

Great place to camp in walking distance to central Swarkopmund. Covered camp with braai and lovely clean facilities.

Disappointed. Parking is horrible in a small, busy retail outlet. It's also expensive, $7.50 to wash hot water in a two load machine. $1.75 to dry 21 minutes. Clean and super secure, though, and they have a one hour drop-off, which may be the way to go.

Nice restaurant in Gobabis. We’ve ordered the pizza’s and it was delicious. They also have salads, steaks and hamburgers as well. Very friendly service.

Stayed here for the night, the actual site was closed and nobody was around to ask but decided to stay outside close to the gate. Quiet and felt pretty safe.

As described previously, a lovely little gravel car park. Almost directly across the road from a wonderful little bar, “Harbour House Ales” where they serve great beers and pizzas

Clear Spring just North of the sculpture. Used this to get water before going north as there was noone at the Gendarmeria. Cold and fresh tasting.

Really friendly gave me water and even offered firewood, said camping in the abandoned house was not a problem and that they would be able to help with anything I needed until midnight

We traveled from North to South and didn't see any sign saying that the road is closed. We've done the pass on two endure bikes and we didn't find it particularly challenging (it's actually quite fun and with great views) but doing it north to south is definitely easier I would say. I am not sure I would attempt it on big bikes but that depends on your ability and confidence.
I also think it's doable on a good 4wd (we met a couple of cars going up) but it can be tricky for car in some points and some parts are narrow.
There are some river crossing but when we've done it they were small and easy to go through

Great spot if you are looking for somewhere free split between Guadalupe NP and Carlsbad Caverns NP. About 10 minutes to Carlsbad Caverns and 25 minutes to Guadalupe. You will come down the road and it splits. To the left is the spot where it dead ends. Backed in my 32ft travel trailer with no issues. To the left of the dead end is a trail packed with crystals that lead up to an active fenced mine. You can’t go in the mine but there is a free pile next to it you can excavate. Don’t pick from the road. More info about the mine (and energy crystals) can be found at the owner’s website, if you are into that sort of thing. https://www.crystallinephoenix.com/ We didn’t see any rattlesnakes but we did hear some coyotes at dusk. If you bring any animals with you, I’d keep them leashed/restrained at all times.

Nice place on the grass just 30m after the parking lot from Las Conchas. More fresh air blowing here compared to the parking lot.

Nice area. Many treks and possibilities to stay overnight. As described, some locals during the day but quiet at night. A little rubbish and some fireplaces. But we found this place much nicer than down by the river.

1 night stay with beautiful views, quiet. picked up some trash, otherwise, clean. parked near the back for a great view. one other RV. road is easy/ flat.

Closed today. There were just ropes across the driveway. Looks like a decent station if it was open.

Unknown brand, but brand new pumps and nice staff. Petrol and diesel is stocked.

Very nice camping spot. Large trees overhanging a grassy campsite, fire pits, hot showers on request, and wildlife all around. The host was extremely nice and built me a fire and got the wood fired hot water heater going. It was usd$8 for just myself for a single night of camping.

The water at the campsite is palatable and clear.

IMPORTANT: as others have said, take the further west entrance road (beginning at -20.424642, 32.690209), not the east one! The east one is probably passable by high clearance 4x4s, but somewhat technical and pretty overgrown. The west road is well traveled. I have put both roads in OpenStreetMaps, so you should see them in OSMAnd, Organic Maps, Maps.me, etc.

Moz to Zim, single person from USA with a rental 4x4 SUV.

Moz side: Relatively straight forward process and similar to other Southern Africa borders. On the Moz side they need to see your actual visa paper when exiting. Mine was a half sheet size piece of paper from when I entered moz from eswatini. Without it they starting getting uptight and said I would have needed to pay usd$50 extra before leaving the country. Once I provided that sheet it went smooth. No gate pass was provided like most other borders. While exiting the customs/immigration building the boss asked for a memento he could keep. I just happened to bring post card from my home town in case this situation occurred. He was very happy to get his postcard and it let me slide out the door a bit quicker.

Zim side: I had my online eTIP all filled out which sped things up (I recommend doing this). Even with this, you will need to fill out a small slip of paper with personal info upon arrival. They only needed to see my passport and didn’t require any additional paperwork (surprising since I was in a rented car), no questions about Covid. They asked all the standard questions: where did you come from, where are you going, how long will you be in the country, why are you here, why are you traveling alone, what is the address of a place you are staying while here.

From Zim you get a piece of paper adhered to one of your passport pages as your visa. Convenient.

My visa was usd$30 and my vehicles TIP was usd$50. I received receipts for everything.

At the gate when entering Zim, the Zim military gate guard requested a drink. It could be helpful to have a few cold coca colas on hand while traveling through much of Africa and this border post.

Overall it went pretty smooth. I think it was about 45 minutes total. I was the only one here.
