It's a pull off on the side of the road. Cars going by, but nothing too bad. Pretty big space, room for a few vehicles.

Large place with palapas, firepits, trash cans and children's playground at the reservoir. Also suitable for big rigs. At the weekends a lot of locals, also at night....

There are about 6 undesignated campsites on a loop right along the river. Camping is allowed here through DNR. No amenities. The road in is a dirt seasonal road but well maintained.

Saw the notices about only three hour parking during the dark hours, and took a chance to spend the night.

We’re traveling in a camper van and had absolutely no problems pulling in around 7 PM and leaving around 8:30 AM.

Quiet place to sleep and beautiful views.

Stayed 3 nights there and it was perfect. The weather is so fresh, you can swim by the river and even if it’s next to the road you can park and feel like you are by your own.
In our opinion, it’s better than the « Boquete free camp » on IOverlander

Spend one night here but we enjoyed more the « Cascada Los Ramones » on IOverlander and the phone signal is better on the other spot ;)
Here you cannot go easily to swim on the river

Nice spot near the Jungle Hill trailhead off Hwy 20 and USFS 2030. Three fire pits and plenty of room for a few vehicles. Road from 20 is in good condition. No cell coverage.

There are many small shops in the city but very few have veggies. This place is amazing and sells only fruits and vegetables, all fresh. Good choice.

I pulled in at 10:30 pm and stayed until 10:30am the next morning. I loved this spot. It’s a beautiful neighborhood and the park nearby is fun to explore. Most importantly, I felt safe.

Trail head parking. It was packed out with cars being a long weekend but we lucked out with a great park for our 24' RV. It quitened down a lot until there was just us and one other Adventure truck overnight. Perfect! Quiet, serene and just lovely. No facilities as it is outside tourist season but all good.

Ok spot for one night before or after surfing. Noisy because of the highway.

FYI: Gas station is not a PEMEX anymore

Tout près de l'entrée du parc, top ! Pas mal d'emplacements sympa avec feu possible.
Par contre dès 8h30, des helico et avions qui passent au dessus toutes les 5 minutes voire moins.
Réseau internet.

Pools with natural water and a waterfall. Good for kids as well. A local recommended this place. Entry is $160 pesos person. The place is not super modern but clean. Locals come here. Lots of shade. You can spend a day here. It's probably wise to avoid the weekend.

Police was here around 12h30. Asked for license, TIP and insurance. Looked through all the documents very carefully to find something that wasn't right to ask money but didn't find anything. Then asked for passport (which are located in the back of our truck) so we got out and he immediately started to say that it was alright, we can go, whitout showing him our passports. Don't know if it has to do with the fact that we got out of the car or not but he let us go without asking for anything. Not a very nice guy though, we spoke spanish which helped a lot

Don’t miss this tour! It was SO interesting!
Really, for sure one of the best tour we did in South America. Wilson speaks very good English & will bring you into the mines & show you around! Really, he is such an amazing person & doing his best to make this experience unforgettable. Wilson works in the mine & as a guide when tourists come! The tour will leave you with mixed feelings - the work is really hard.
Please, support this guy & book the tour. You won’t regret it! They will collect you personally at the place your are staying & bring you back at the end. For overlanders they also offer a place where to park your car safely!
Write Pedro on WhatsApp for bookings & ask for guide Wilson. Also lastminute-bookings are welcome. They are really amazing & so hard-working!

Aqui, aproveitamos a beleza da natureza e contamos com o banheiro do comércio local. Ah, e o banho? É na ducha fria da praia, uma experiência revigorante! on our way from Toche to Salento we camp here, because it became too late. We had a nice meal for 15xxx cop each and nice company. we parked our van next to the restaurant and did not use any facilities. next day, locals told us we could not go further up to Salento because of landslidings and the length of our van. We took the same wonderfull road back trough the majestic waxtree environment.

We were driving from Cajamarca to Salento. with a 4x4 sprinter. from Cajamarca to
Toche it was oké and open. After Toche you will need the 4x4 and especcialy the high clearance. 24 km before Salento there is a restaurant where we stayed overnight. next morning people advice is to go back. there are very narrow bends and landslidings. so we took not the risk and drive back over the wonderfull road with bus breathtaking views. the waxpalms are enormous and plenty!

This place is wonderful, big grassy patch, with fire spot, full sunshine, amazing view on the mountain and just a little drive on the gravel via the Hwy 16.
When we were there, just a little bit of snow was left in one small area just before the grassy patch in the road.
So if you come earlier, maybe the road will be in snow

Wonderful place, we stayed here for three nights. On weekends during the day, some locals are there and make asado. But at night it is totally quiet and dark. There were always other campers around.
