Stayed here one night. Lovely dog beach steps away from the parking lot. Last train passed by around 11pm and next day, around 7am. We saw security cars at the Pioneer Parking after 10pm, but they didn’t check this other lot. Clean washroom, potable water and nice park staff! |

We had a very good experience of Hippo Bay Campsite. The drive along the lake to get to the campsite was lovely, with the road crowded with puku that impressively lept into the water as we drew near. There were also many hippos lounging about, as the name of the campsite would suggest, as well as water birds and elephants (nearer to the campsite). The campsite had water and power and great open-air grass-walled showers. The campsite is in front of the lake and unfenced, so elephants visited and there were hippos marching about in the night. We spent some time at the nearby Konkamaya Lodge, where we registered for the campsite, both of which are owned and run by Mr. Andrea Porro (Dr., actually: he's a biologist with loads of knowledge about the animals and plants of the area) and Caterina (who creates delicious Italian meals!), who were generous with their excellent conversation, travel advice/assistance and superb coffee. The beautiful lodge structure itself opens onto a yard that hosted, while we were there, a large group of elephants lunching on the surrounding trees; beyond the yard is a great view of the lake, complete with the requisite hippos. The staff members were all very helpful and pleasant. The nearby town of Itezhi Tezhi is handy for supplies, fuel, cash, etc. We recommend a stay at Hippo Bay! |

This is an official dispersed camping site with 3 spots. Strand Hill road up to Farris Creek road. This will require a capable 4WD vehicle with clearance to get up here. There are 2 more spots up Farris Creek road but they are even more difficult to get to. No cell service. Lots of mosquitoes. Note that as of April 2021, the Crested Butte region is forcing everyone to camp in designated dispersed camping sites in Washington Gulch and other areas closer to the town. Brush Creek and others will be enforced in coming years, but as of now you can still camp in this area wherever you can find a previously used spot as long as you follow the basic rules of dispersed camping. However, you may get the evil eye from locals who do not know the specifics of the rules so it's better to use these designated spots. |

Granite Peak RV Resort. We drove up around 5 PM and all of their hookup sites were full, but they had a large field for overflow dry camping for $20/night. They let us fill up our water tanks using a house in front of the office. We were able to use all campground facilities. Very nice, well-maintained place with all the amenities. |

Was looking for a place to spend the night and saw this open fence “with a view”. Not hidden from the road, but leveled. There’s a way to park behind the bushes (parallel to the road) but then, not leveled.

Off Jerry’s Flat Road, this spot is about 7 miles from Hwy 101 @ Gold Beach. It is off the road, tucked behind two concrete barriers and in shade. There are no signs. The road is quiet at night. Good spot! |

Visited this campground to get a shower. It is tidy and quiet, and looks well managed. Non-guests can purchase a shower, (bring $2 in quarters) for what felt like 8-10 minutes! |

camped one night in the big group area and then ventured down the road to see if more spots were available. there was one and we put a couple chairs out to save it. about an hour later the chairs were gone from the spot when we pulled in. and a ton of garbage all around. so far Montana is pretty dirty. pick up after yourselves people. and maybe grab an extra bag of trash on the way out. this place is disappointing |

Informal Van/Car Camping in parking lot of Mision Santa Maria Hotel. Security guards has preference towards foreigners (gringos) and not too likely to accept your if you rig looks dumpy. Super fast free internet going about halfway out into the parking lot listed in the picture. Free bathrooms (not for showing), great restaurant, awesome nighttime bar, and simply stunning location that is OK for you to walk around. You must walk out to the dunes at sunset! |

Left due to not feeling safe- as did 3 other campers while we were there. Sketchy people lingering… go with your gut. Safety rating for North Bend is 5/100 with 100 being safe, so there’s also that…. |

A little road noise but nothing you can’t sleep through. There is a No Camping sign but it seems to go with a big open green area. There were 3 RVs and a couple of trucks that spent the night. |

We were told to leave by a rude dude at 11pm who jumped on the deck of our truck. We saw him walking around earlier but obviously he relished telling people to leave closer to midnight, rather than at a more reasonable time. There are no NO CAMPING signs and the dude told us they didn’t need to post any. |
