Beach tent site next to palm trees. Flatish area with nice sand and shallow swimming. Quite, there may be other tent or car campers near by. 2 wheel low clearance car accessible but be careful.

Quality rest stop. No trouble parking our 22-foot Class B overnight here. Clean bathrooms. There’s some highway noise, as expected. There’s a great wooded area to explore, nice for walking dogs.

Camping was much nicer than expected after the first entry here.
Came here because Agama down the road isn’t doing any camping anymore.

There are three campsites each with ablution block with two toilets and two showers. Super clean and the shower (at least at block 2) is one of the best showers. Awesome pressure and holds the temp at the spot :-)

Sink for doing dishes.

Campsite has power plugs, fire drum and rim, light.
A covered area for shade and the construction will give wind shelter on a windy day.

Did pay 518 for two which is definitely not the cheapest camping option in the area. But therefore we had a lovely swim in the pool from the main lodge.

Flies been not that bad. And hey .. it’s nature.

The campsite isn’t too far from the road, but due to minimal traffic it isn’t an issue.

Small area for dispersed - more for tents but potable water and dump station included in day use fee or camping fee. I took a hike on the shoreline trail and got water and dumped. Worth the $5

The GPS does not take you the right way. There is a small rough dirt road off of route 301 that you must take to get to this location. it is a dirt boat ramp with a fishing pier and a covered picnic area. It is slow going to get out here but well worth it once you were here.

This lot and trailhead are not open to camping, parking or hiking past park hours... which are 9pm in the summer and dusk the rest of the year. Please read the very detailed sign at the trail head or even use the actual park website for proper information.

Google maps lead me astray to the road above the lot. Apple Maps lead me to the correct location. $20 for a van, said I was good until 8am the next morning, no re entry.

Good option direct on noisy road. But now 200 Q for just parking in the secured parking lot. Very friendly staff and good restaurant.

Nice place to stop overnight, we got here early around 3PM, lots of people riding 4x4 and motocross but apart for that quiet place to spend the night, easy access to any size rigs but drive slowly.

As described below. $250mxn per night. Omar was completely friendly and hospitable. Stayed 4 nights, saw the piramids but much of the Palacios are closed presumably for the pandemic as are the museums. Drinking water is abundantly available. We filled our 20 gallon tanks three time but had to do it out of garafon bottles he had on site. At first we treated it with chlorine like we do all our water not RO purified but after Omar’s insistence that it is perfectly fine to drink I took his word for it. 3 days and no issues. Since someone stole their solar water heaters from the roof of the baños they have only cold showers but bathrooms are clean and supplied with TP. We stayed over the weekend and many locals came for yoga classes. The volunteer fire dept is doing rescue drills. All the folks are so friendly and kind. Hardly noticed the trains and traffic from the highway at all in the van. Great people. Recommend staying here. Oh and dog friendly too. Super place to stay.
Also Julia, Omar’s mother offered us free dinner she cooked for the yoga group in their comedora.

Stayed here and it is really pretty. One other camper who was here watching the sunset before I got there. A bit noisy until 9pm or so. Afterwords there was minimal noise.

Horrible horrible road. I’m in a 2019 Winnebago Travato with a lift kit and bigger tires and I made it up the hill a little and decided it wasn’t worth it. Drove down to the next road and stayed at trailhead. Horrible road only for 4x4 unless you want to get stuck. I wouldn’t even try it in a smaller campervan no thank you and I usually try anything. Nope for me.

Most rivers have bridges now, there are 2 incomplete bridges that require river crossing but I am sure those will be complete within months of writing this. The road is being worked on and in pretty good shape despite the current weather (rain all day!!!) 4x4 is still a wise idea, high clearance probably recommended for that first river crossing on a rainy day, should be fine if the level is lower when it’s dry. Other wise a decent 2x4 will work in the dry season for sure.
Unfortunately I have the feeling this road might get paved in the years to come… then the community will lose its charm.

We checked with manager and she said the signs say two hour parking but she had never heard them hassling anyone for one night camping. Loud at night, trucks barreling by right next to the hwy.

Definitely not for the faint of heart.
I do not suggest this site for a bigger Van/RV.
I disperse camp exclusively. I have a 4x4/HC Sprinter with an upgraded off-road suspension and KO2’s which gives me additional clearance room and for the first time ever, I heard a scrape. The rocks are basically mini-boulders stuck in the ground and are in the middle of the road. The tire tracks are also deeply rutted.
There is a drop-off to your right as you continue going uphill towards this location. Being 11’5” high and with the winds, it was not a fun time trying to avoid the deep tire tracks while driving over the rocks while being so close to the edge and potentially tipping over.
I continued on to get to the campsite because there was nowhere to turn around without damaging the land or falling/dying.
There are 4 rocky areas that are nasty. This is not worth the drive. So many dead & downed trees.
It’s definitely secluded, and probably very pretty in the early fall!
I would stick with the spots closer to the beginning of the road but as another post on here said, it’s close to two private residences.
