This was THE best place during our trip! Great view from the montains in the morning, clean bathroom, and the owners are really great people. We loved being there, would really recommend you to go there! There was no free coffee, though. The one in the photo was made by us!

Nice enough spot but lots of trash. Lots of dead fish everywhere too. Overall didn't love the location and would choose to stay elsewhere next time.

We parked back against the fence that faces appartments. Bad Mistake. Dogs barked all hours of the day and night. Garbage removal for the apartments was at midnight, and the banging and crashing was unbelievable. It is not a bad park. Nice Pool. 90% of the residents are long term, and are from Quebec, so they are not very welcoming, and they do not speak English or Spanish in this park. Just French.

Great spot near the ruins. Swimmingpool was very nice after a hot day in the sun.

We tried coming here for the night. After a few minutes, a guy came and told us it was prohibited to park there, even worse spend the night, as the area belong to a UNESCO protected site. We moved to the Plaza Mayor (see other iOverlander spot nearby)

Nice spot to spend the night. Seems to be the place where lots of camper come for the night as there were 4 or 5 other campers parked there. Right in the historical center so you can visit Colonia really easily from there. Quiet and peaceful.

We arrived and parked our vehicle for 3 days to visit Mexico City. It was no problem at all to park our vehicle and we felt very safe.
After we returned, we spent three more nights at the campsite from Julia and her son Omar.
We needed a locksmith for our vehicle and they arranged an experienced locksmith who solved our problem.
We felt very safe and welcome the whole time.
Many thanks to Julia and Omar.

Stayed 3 nights. Cheapest place in town and closest to the pyramids. Cold showers with low pressure, but a decent little spot.

Ruben is on watch at night and a very friendly guy. Just be aware that there are 5+ dogs at this place that get let out to roam free at night. They tear up anything and everything left outside. My hiking sandals are toast.

My dog liked running around here and the hot air balloons were cool to see in the morning.

Used wifi and bathrooms in Exchange for a breakfast (3$) in the morning. They were super nice and allowed me to stay inside by the fire.

Great place super chill mid week busy on the weekends just like anything else. Showers are hot, only 1 shower per bathroom. No local stores so being everything you need.
On the national park pass only the senior, vets and disabled card holder get the discount the basic annual pass doesn’t give you the discount. Also it was $20-$30 per site with discount $10-$15. Ones without hook ups and the other is water and electric . But each site has water hook ups. There is a dump station.
We travel full time in a skoolie so paying the $20 was a really great deal once you added up all the extra. Most places just to dump your tank $10 Then water $5 showers not that we don’t have one in the bus, you looking at another $10. And there is Wi-Fi but don’t count on it. Verizon 2 bars metro 0

Quiet campground when we were there a week day. Nice to have a hot shower after hiking the volcano. 95 pesos per person per night. Only downside would be the huge spot lights everywhere. Kinda sucks when your in the forest and you feel like your sleeping in a city cause of all the lights. Wished we had camped in the above parking lot for free the day before the hike, a lot darker.

Very strategic place where you can sleep or store your car while visiting the islands. Yuri is very helpful and friendly !
He can help you with finding a pirogue to the islands, finding restaurants or with other things.
Yuri speaks good English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Next to the small shops/cafeteria on the right side of the road (coming from La Paz). I asked the last cafeteria (where I had a nice cheap dinner) and they let me put my tent next to the building. They said I was safe and I felt so with the kind neighbours coming to chat with me (plus the curious dogs). BUT it's right next to the big road and the traffic doesn't stop during the night (lots of noise and light).

& there's an outside tap on the cafeteria's side of the building, with clear water (probably non-potable without filter though)

we filled out the form online as required. Per default, you're marked as Ivorian resident.
For the ivoirian adress, we took the one from our hotel in Abidjan. We never ticked the item in the checklist that concern residency certificate and host declaration either.
We didn't need any residency permit from IC, in the embassy we explained our situation and they agreed to grant us the visa if we provide additional papers: copy of CDP, travel itinerary with a list and map, document that proves our work status (payroll document, company document, work certificate, everything that proves that you have sufficient funds with ties to your homeland).
They didn't take our photos, they said that the one in the application are sufficient. Make sure to upload them in the correct format though.
After 1 week we got our passports with the visas. We paid 40k CFA. Express is faster, they have 1 day for 80k CFA and 3 days dor 60k CFA.

Nice clean primitive camping. We stayed 5 days. It rained off and on the first afternoon and although the roads are well defined they get slicker than ice and the ground is soft silty dirt so plan on getting stuck when wet. We have a 32 foot class A tv and tow a Jeep and we had no problem driving in about 3/4 mile. Lots of camp spots but be respectful and stay on established roads. Only saw 2 cows and 1/2 dozen other campers well dispersed and away from us. There is car noise from Route 66 and train noise from the other side of 66 but all gets quieter after dark and it gets pitch black out here. We will be back.

Literally the most incompetent mechanics in South America. They made all of our problems 10x worse, took 3 days longer than they said they would, wayyy overcharged us and then to add insult to injury, they put their shop sticker on our car without our permission. Do not go here.
