Strange to camp close to the roaring Lions at night.
The campsite is behind the fields were they keep the lions. It's one big field with a line of trees in the middle where you can camp.
There was nobody camping. We couldn't get hot water for the shower.
Visiting the sanctuary is nice and something you should do it you camp here.

We paid ZAR300 for one night camping with two adults and two children.

Stay for the night. Price was 150N$ pppn and half for children under 16 but no hot water as the donkey is broken and no electricity except 3 lights in campsite. We only paid 300 N$ for 5 in a sheltered site.Windy but well sheltered behind the boat. By phone they said 500 per site for 1 to six people... Bargain.

Very nice and quiet place direct at the lake, the people around here are very friendly. We payed 250 pesos with a RV per night.
The road for the RV‘s right on the place is very steep, Small challenge for big RV‘s but possible.
No Water and electric at the RV-Site
We recommend this place.
You can book an all inclusive Tequila and beer tour for 400pesos in Bacalar, ask the owners :)

Very helpful and nice campground owners.
Water and electricity and WiFi are available but you need an adapter for the electricity.
The shower and toilet are hardly usable and are located on the site of a boat repair workshop.
450 pesos per night with electric.
You can ask the Rob for WiFi (20 pesos per day)

not to many people here elk hunters. I think the camping at the Friends campground is free off season the pit toilet was available but nor trash pack in pack out. I decided to go to find a protected area down the hill from the wind. free any time of the year. National forest disperse camping. Note: lots of private land be sure to watch for no trespassing signs. state trust land may also say no camping in some areas.

A MUST place to visit and spend a few days.

Very nice coffee plantation resort. The host, Juergen, gave us the best coffee tour we’ve had so far. Very informational. BONUS: Tell him you’d also like to help pick the coffee cherries.

To get here, the second to last intersection is incorrect and Google maps will want you to take the right road, but this goes to a private home and it’s difficult to turn around. You should drive left. There is a little green sign at this intersection.

Also, parking can be tight and you’ll be parking in the parking lot. I’m not sure you can fit here if you’re driving anything bigger than a 6m Sprinter van.

Grab a bag of Juergen’s hand roasted coffee.

Appropriately 3 miles down the road there are graveled pull outs, some more level than others. Pullout will fit all sizes of rigs. Beautiful lake view with a peek at the ocean. Great spot, except for the constant wind. if you are a light sleeper I would not recommend this spot. we stayed one night and had to sleep with the slides pulled in. Didn't get much sleep Thought the wind would calm down at night, it did not. This is not just a coastal breeze it's a strong constant wind!!! No signs posted, no one bothered us. In the morning there were a few more campers in other pull out spots. I have Telus and have one bar, so not the best. No garbage laying around, I hope we can keep it this way.

Good place to escape the Alter crowds. We had two quiet nights, with little noise from young people in the church square. The bar was closed, but the owner kindly allowed us to use the bathroom and the energy while we were there.
Weak Vivo coverage!

Great spot if you don't mind being close enough to the interstate to hear it. Worth going if you like to hike, the mountain is a perfect day hike with amazing views.

first of all if you wanna go by yourself, ask to someone in the village before
when we arrived we didn't know where the terms were and we have crossed Lirima to the moutains (just 1km after) and 3 vehicles came to search us because we are in a community and we cannot go where we want. good people but you have to ask when you arrive to Lirima. furthermore the terms were closed ... maybe still about covid...
maybe they want to keep their tranquility:)

it's great. Entry fee now $195 for adults (discounts for kids, seniors, students etc) - plus $20 per hour for the huge car park, capped at $60.. Worth it, though made me appreciate how cheap Mexico is generally by contrast!

Great spot in a beautiful area right at the beach as well as the start of the Gaff Point hiking trail. Busy during the day, but a decent amount of fairly level parking.

Super accueil, petit camping sympa avec de l’ombre, très bien entretenu. Douches ok, eau chaude et toilettes propres. Nous avons très bien mangé aussi.
Nous recommandons pour une étape à Atar.

as described before me. the parking area is paved. it's a bit off level but if you drive across the cattle guard onto the other side of the fence, it's more level BUT it's a gravel lot so take your pick.

Pretty great spot all in all. Lovely views of the surrounding mountains. We were here in mid November, but I imagine in spring it's pretty epic with all the Aspen. We did see a sign in Spanish near the lake warning that the algae in it is toxic and can kill animals, so don't recommend swimming or letting your dogs run wild.

What we saw: a couple of medium sized campsites with stone fire pits and a very large flat pullout a bit further up the rd that could fit a bunch of RVs or something. We stayed in the second site, which is a bit larger than the first but has less shade (see pics and screenshot of that).

What we didn't see: The rd continues past the big flat area but we didn't want to risk it without 4WD. Road is a bit rough in general but we made it in the Jeep Patriot (which doesn't have great clearance). There are also a couple actual marked roads just east of this rd that we didn't explore. I'm guessing there are more renegade spots on them.

Cleaned it up a bit. Lots of trash and graffiti. Clearly the locals know about this place. Some rednecks drove by hooting and hollering not long after we started setting up camp and another guy went thru looking around as well... After that no one bothered us though.

This is all pretty close to the road so there *is* road noise, but you're not visible and it died down over night. We slept fine.

No "no" signs. Please leave it better than you found it!

Think there are several renegade spots in this area but didn't explore it much as we found a spot pretty quickly. (see map screenshot.) It's just a basic spot with a small fire pit and shade trees. Very dry area. Decent view but kind of blocked. At the edge of some private property. Seems like it'd be a fire hazard so pls be careful. We got here by passing straight through the Pines Campground and continuing up the main road. There are a few other roads that fork off of it that we didn't check, and they're not on google maps so there could likely be a ton of renegade options in this area. Road is a bit pot-holey but not too bad. Only one "no" sign just past the campground at one spot but tgen nothing. Did see quite a few cars go by, but it was Veterans day weekend. Felt kind of safe that it was so close to the ranger station and lookout. No one bothered us. Very quiet. Convenient to Yosemite NP.... Please leave places here better than you found them!
