After seeking via iOverlander, I saw in the comments somewhere that someone suggested casa verde. I messaged them, but they took too long to respond. In the meantime, we walked past this greenery covered building with the word 'posada' out front and a phone number. The number did not work so we knocked on the door using their clever door knocker method. Miguel greeted us so warmly! He has three rooms with private baths, all overlooking the valley. There is also a pool. He is an architect and built this place himself - you can definitely tell, there's so much character. You can pull into the parking area, but maybe a 7' height max. There is also a whole floor, again open air and overlooking the valley that is a communal cooking area. About a 10 min walk to centro. I can't recommend this place enough. 600p per night for two people in a single with our dog, a little steep, but so worth it.

FYI, this town has insanely steep hills, we had to put the truck in 4L to get up certain streets.

What an amazingly beautiful setting to camp at next to Kili. This is a working farm and the camping area is under loafs of trees with a beautiful view of Mount meru.. The staff was awesome and so friendly and was very welcoming.. We were not lucky enough to see kili due to weather but I believe on a clear day you will be able to see it... They offer meals st the restaurant and have a beautiful bar area. Ablution facilities is perfect and we had hot water for the shower. Great alternative to staying in the park.. We paid THS20 000 per person per night

Still good place to stay. There were about 10-15 trailers here. Pretty quiet. Nobody bothered me

I've stayed in the "truckers" lot on several occasions. I'm talking about the gravel lot that is adjacent to the paved lot. I prefer it because it's darker. Yes, there have been trucks that idle but the lot is big enough that I have room to park far enough away and I sleep just fine. Free white noise.

UPDATE: Oct 2022; This used to be my "go to" spot when traveling south, but today, I can no longer recommend it. Shortly after I parked, I got that, you know, "this ain't cool" feeling. Barking dogs and sketchy folks who have taken up residence so I decided to head down 248 as I was going that direction anyway. Only 15 miles south is the BLM campground "Sawtooth Mountain" GPS coords: 34.66833, -116.98302. I'm sitting here in a beautiful quiet and dark desert spot, glad I moved.

The parking spaces around back are quite nice and a little quieter. We did hear 2 trains close by but other than they had a good sleep.
We are at the restaurant for the first time ever. Huge portions so very glad we shared! Not a lot of healthy options but for $13 what can we expect?

This place is awesome! The store is full of delicious and wonderful farm food products like produce, pies, preserves, and a whole café and deli. You can also get free water and air when you buy gas.

Quiet little lake, not swimming quality though. A few miles up the road from the small town. Quite a few folks for a Sunday evening. So some traffic driving through…
Train horns to be heard. Pretty clean considering no trash cans. Fish jumping occasionally, and sign says (picture) no shooting rifles.

Safe, quiet and wonderful place. Just side of the Cape East Road. If you are coming from Los Cabos. Once you pass the marina you should keep going in direction to zakatitos 6 km on the paved road. Vidanta and IberoZacaton closed the original Cape East road and replace by this paved road. At the end of the paved road turn left and keep going to the second river entrance to the sea.

This was an incredible quiet spot on the water. We got in around 6pm and left around 8 the next morning. Only on other van, beautiful views and large area for other campers. 10/10 would recommend this spot.

hill with a beautiful view of the city, two paragliding flight spots, and a nice spot to spend the night in a motorhome. they say it closes from 8 pm to 5 am as we stopped to sleep early we had no problem.

morro com uma vista linda para a cidade, dois pontos de voo de parapente, e um ponto legal para passar a noite de motorhome. dizem que fecha das 8 p.m. até 5 a.m. como paramos para dormir cedo não tivemos problema.

Nice and close to the falls. We could hear the roar of the river. Very quiet and we were the only vehicle in the lot. $10 for 24 hours in the off-season.

We finally found a place on the west side of the road that was private and big enough for our 21 foot trailer, truck and RZR to park. This place is very busy, thus very dusty. The off road rental shops have this road on their tourist map, so UTVs frequent this camp stretch. The road is very rough if you plan to stay for any length of time and driving from town to camp each day. We did break a shock and tore a CV boot on our brand new truck on this road. Verizon service was spotty and got very slow at peak times of the day. Neighbors were very noisy with loud music and another with an all night generator. This is not the peaceful vortex zone if that is what you are hoping for.

This is exactly what I like for a hotel, secure motorcycle parking, restaurant, great service and inexpensive. Paid $75 GTQ 1 person. It was cold, make sure to ask for extra blankets.

Spectacular place. I was worried about coming here after reading some of the comments. The drive in from Pensacola Beach was as if you were on another planet. There is nothing but flat beautiful beaches and tons of sand. I loved everything about the campsites and no they are not too close together. The campsites were super quiet. The only complaint I have is - why do campers have outside lights on? You can’t see the stars. Rude!!

Great spot right on the beach. Washrooms, beach shower and bottle fill. Says no camping but no one hassled us for overnight parking in our converted ambulance. No one else there. Great sunsets

Stopped here for a night. After being on the coast for several days the water was fantastic. Stayed on a Saturday, wasn’t too busy, site says they’re limited to25% capacity but no one was counting. 160pp got us entry and camping. Pro tip. Get pollo on the way in when you get off the highway, much cheaper and better.

Perfect place to rest amidst nature. Camping is very clean and organized. Each kiosk has water and electricity and a table and barbecue. the value is R$ 25.00 per person. It is on the edge of a very nice and clean river, the place also has a small swimming pool, you can enjoy it for a separate price. We got in with food and drink without any problems. We stayed for 3 days.
