Signs say camping in designated areas only. There are only 2 or 3 designated areas here and they’re first come, first served. They’re great though. Spots are on higher ground but directly on the lake. Picnic table. Fire ring. And free. Good luck snagging these spots in summer, though. I’m sure they go fast.

Another hospedaje in town, seems like a new one. Double room with shared bathroom 40s. Very big rooms, nice beds and really clean toilet. No hot water, but it's not needed as it's hot outside. There is no fan though, so it can get a bit hot, but it's good with open windows. Parking on the street, the town seems really safe and quiet.

Here is a place with many different specialists- Doctors, dentists etc. Our little one had a very bad stomach bug and we sought advice from pediatrician Dr Vanesa Lemus González. She was very thorough - carrying out a complete health check in addition to the investigation we needed, and we were very pleased. She took samples, had us nip over to the lab to get it examined and an hour later, we were able to consult with her again and receive the right medicine for our daughter’s bacteria. This consultation cost 200 Quetzales. We would highly recommend. Please note- appointment bookings are required in advance.

Wonderful free camp spots. For the first few miles off the freeway, it’s a little bumpy but easy to do.
At like 5 miles away, it becomes really tough.
But not to worry, lots of camp spots in the first few miles.
Currently, no one around here. As the weather gets warmer and the weekends come, I hear there are lots of OHV around. Oh well.
3-4 bars on Verizon. My RV antenna boosts that to 5.
Beautiful forest area with lots of fallen wood for fires, and plenty of spots.

Stunning spot to stop in a campervan. A short walk to a huge beach through the dunes on a well made path and bridge. Spotless toilets with hot water which are open 24 hrs during spring and summer. Largish carpark with no height restriction (another car park which is 2.1m which closes at 4pm )Donation box for your stay. Can't recommend highly enough !

Little price but no didactic signs or explanation, hard to understand the history behind the fort. Much better Jebreen castle located a few km away (3 OMR p/p included audio guide)

Very interesting visit. Much better than Bahla fort regading explanation. The price difference is totally justified.

We had a great two night stay at Romelda. The pitches are right next to the beautiful lake and we had two of the best sunsets we’ve seen on our 4 month trip.
The owners Lisa and David were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the area and helped us plan our route to Harare via Great Zimbabwe.

Just down the street from the library there’s apartments on one side and construction on the other. We parked in the construction side with no problem. Fairly quiet. Works for a van, wouldn’t recommend anything bigger. No parking restrictions listed here and you blend in nicely.

There’s also an outdoor bathroom at the peet coffee shop across from the library, and of course a nice bathroom in the library when that opens.

Gas Station with ample parking for big rigs and trailers/campers. I parked behind/ south of Gas Station to be away from light and be on actual level road. Feels safe. several big rigs and one other camper.

One of several parking areas off the main highway. The one we slept in bordered a bayou and was pretty trashy. We filled a trash bag, by way of showing our appreciation. It was surprisingly empty and quiet on a Friday night.

Super nice shower in the family bathroom in the lobby! Maybe their hours were adjusted. Usually they dont open til 4pm but had extended hours this week due to kids’ spring break. Hours posted on their website. Their cleaning products smell like apple pie. Very positive shower experience.

great man, he helped us with a few problems we had. we only paid 4000 Pesos (18 US$) for almost half day of searching the problem. unfortunately we couldn't solve it (However, nobody could solve it so far;-). A friend of us who was at the same day there, paid the same and he solved his problem with a broken valve.

La Posada Azul.

Restaurante (and resting place).
I was 3 years ago and Roberto has been working hard to create a beautiful restaurant but also welcomes travellers to stay .

It has a large car park at the front and the rear for camper vans, or you can sleep inside.

I've stayed at this location at least 12 times during the past 15 years, the trail in isn't as good but if you take it slow not bad at all. I've tent camped and earlier this year took my teardrop trailer to this location, like my jeep it has about 12 inches of clearance. Cell signal on At&t is spotty, but is decent with a cell booster unless there are a lot of other campers in the area.

Beautiful place to camp or park a rig of any size in lots of trees. Nice bathrooms, showers, a small pool. Regularly visited by a family of monkeys. Great place to get out of the tourist crowds close to Cancun. And best of all…super friendly welcoming hosts!
