nice spot by the river. looks like they have tried to block access with big rocks but there is another way in just as easy. we pulled in with a 15ft trailer. has a huge fire pit and fair VZ signal.

Camping spot on the lake on the west side of Spring Lake. There is a fire ring and enough flat space for a van. There are two entrances - the one to the north is less steep and smoother. I occasionally got 1 bar of Verizon LTE. A nice place to spend the night!

A few km before the turn-off to Laguna Blanca, on the left, just a pull-out from the road near a hill, a little bit wind protection, nothing else there. No traffic during the night. Fantastic night sky.

Super beautiful local run surfschool with the possibility to camp here. Directly at the beach. Surf, kayak, sup and more possible. Family run place with a small restaurant. Big thumbs up.

We stayed here for 3 nights in our tent. Our experience was very peaceful and quiet. The beach is long and flat, perfect for long walks with our dogs. Noah is very accommodating. There are lovely bungalows and RV spaces as well.

good place to stop for a night. But the lake bed is WET... do not pass the sign. You will get stuck. We walked for a bit and kept slipping in the mud.

Drove to the parking area where you pay, then just walked around and climbed on the nearby rocks to get some nice views of the peaks. Nobody asked us for any money :) Obviously not the full Spitzkoppe experience but still fun.

There is a water bottle filling tap on the side of the green painted bathroom/food vending stand . Pull up right next to it and fill up. This is not a water spigot that you can connect a hose to btw.

Perfect bivouac but we woke up at 4am by a policeman who asked us to leave because the land belongs to the municipality. After discussion, he allowed us to finish the night but it is forbidden here. There is no overnight sign.

Very calm place. Clean toilets. The friendly guardian came by in the morning to clean and char. Parking and staying overnight was free.

Gravel parking lot next to the road. At the right corner of the parking there is a little trail that leads to a small fall and a picnic table, pretty well sheltered from the wind!
If you continue down the gravel road after the first parking, it takes you closer to the water and there's a little gazebo. very cute place, stayed there one night and saw no one else!

Best water fill up Place hands down in this part of Baja.

Lots of room to pull up my small bus

They have a nice hose and great pressure

Easily opening the check valve on my inlet - which has been a problem at other places.

Stay is 5 stars, views are outstanding all around the lake, very quiet at night, lake is starting to thaw, some snow still on mountains. Our 5th wheel is backed 25ft from lake shore with a perfect view. About 1/8 mile south from Alaskan Hwy with a nice gravel road into the forest and good high clearance into camp. My starlink worked great even with trees around. Area is very clean and we will clean before we leave. Rest area across the road has pit toilets and trash. This is a free no cost camping.

Revisited next day for update. Bathrooms are locked at night. There are a couple of larger RV/Trailer spots. This is adjacent to a local history museum and market. I imagine they may patrol more/restrict nighttime after Memorial Day and Yosemite gets busier. Left no trace.

Round trip to the bottom of the waterfall is 15km/700m vertical and about 1:45/2:00 go/return with very leisurely walk and photos. It is worth it to go to the end of the trail, there is an awesome view from the last terrace 100m before the water drop without getting wet.
It is not muddy, most of the trail is concrete stairs and walkways, few sandy/rocky spots that are slippery when wet.

Camping in the center of the village is not slowed, no problem on the parking lot at the entrance.

Cyclists only!

Flat sandy shelf just below the northern summit of the canyon. Scramble down from the road 5m.

Shelter from northerly and easterly winds due to topography and earthworks.

No access to water from this point. Either a difficult decent by the bridge (300m south and 20m decent) or at the next Rio south.

Good as a place to stop in bad winds

Depending on where you are on the shelf you may be visible from the road. Tucked just against the earthworks you shouldn’t be seen.

(Author note: I didn’t stop here for the night)

Thysqua Refugio Florián offers 2 Cabañas with breathtaking view of the cascadas. We paid 100’ per night. The place is not accessible with big rigs. Only bikes and 4x4 recommended, especially when it’s wet. Tents are also welcome. Theres a place under a round pavilion and also shower and a toilet. At this location you can easily blend into nature. We stayed 3 nights and visited the cave (ventana de Thisquizote) and the base pool (charco azul). From the cabanas You can hike directly to the base and do a loop via the village back to the place. Like 12 km and 3h absolute worth the effort. Sergio, his mom Rubiela and José are super friendly hosts. They help you with everything. We felt that this is a really special location in Colombia. https://thysquarefugio.wixsite.com/my-site. water spigot at pump 7 diesel truck side. it's a red spigot (not blue) usually meaning it's not potable.... however not always. asked the manager 6 different ways if it is safe to drink...he assured me that the water is potable. if I get sick I'll update.... :)
