Country store / with gas open most days 9-4p Great burgers! Bird watching area around back. Hot, bring water & bug spray. Javalena pigs, mountain goats, deer, snakes and very large cacti - on hiking trails which are very narrow- dogs will have difficulty walking safely - bring first aide kit just in case. Walking sticks good idea too. |

Donna | Easy access off main highway yet quiet and private—fine for one night. Still some mud and snow in the tree-shaded areas this time of year (early May). Tried to access the creek at the end of Bootjack Drive, but there was a gate across the road with private property/no trespassing signs. |

Holler$ | Large truck lot behind AMPM and Sonic. Noticed a rig with curtains up for the night and another sedan boondocking so I decided to give it a go. The lot is somewhat sloped but there are some spots to work with. There is a small section to the west of the main lot that is darker, but the lights are considerably bright, which is good for safety if you have a low key blackout. I suspect that it is wise to maintain a low profile here although I didn’t notice any signage anywhere banning overnight camping so it appears to be allowed. |
AMPM Back Lot | 34.12830, -116.39400 | |
Piet&Piet | Very quiet rural spot, a 7 minutes walk to a gorgeous beach, nudist if you’re into that. Birds, dark starry nights, a farm with thoroughbred horses. Clean. To find: at the end of the road, where it reads “salida”, turn left. One spot only on the right side of the road next to the large stones. Nice meadow behind. Plenty of firewood on the beach |
