This is a spring running through a pipe for filling your water jugs. lots of flow, filled my 5 gallon jug in less than 30 seconds. I have been told by the locals that it's safe, drinking water, but use your own discretion.

Great private spot off a dirt road. Keep driving past gps pin and you will find it. Established fire pit. Small creek. Flat enough for a tent. Some noise from the main road but not too busy at night.

Lovely relatively flat area with great views of the east side of reef. We camped here one night. Only one other camper in sight. No amenities.

We took a private boat from Mokowe to Manda airport dock for 1000ksh. We negotiated with several boat operators and every single one was firm that the price was 1000. We were in a hurry to meet friends so we agreed. There are public options if you can wait.
On the return we took the 6AM public boat for 250pp from Shela back to Mokowe. Downside to this is it takes an hour. If you are pressed for time, take the slow public boat from Shela to Lamu and one of the faster public boats from Lamu to Mokowe (would save ~30 minutes.)

Not as great a view as some of the northern pull outs but has nice vegetation and beach access for the brave.

Juana, one of the owners, is also an acupuncturist. You can receive treatment.

The water is hot for great showers. New construction. Clean. Some days wifi functions well, other times it disappears. Telcel signal works at the Posadita for the times when the wifi stops.

Prices on the weekend double and currently on the weekday are 500 pesos per night (two people). Friendly, sweet and helpful owners.

stayed for a night mid-week in mid-may. very small area (can fit one mid-size van comfortably). in the evening many people drove up and then left. in the morning we were woken up by every albertan bird chirping. not sure whether it was annoying or beautiful, but if you're a light sleeper, keep your windows closed. we really like our spot because of the beautiful sunset over the lake and a beautiful sunrise, too. only suitable for a night since there are so many people passing by. anything longer might grab the attention of a bylaw officer.

Parking lot at the welcome center. Allows stays up to 48 hours. Lots of big rigs and RVs parked overnight. Some noise from the traffic and hum of the rigs, but we slept well. Nice little hiking trail into the refuge. Has Bathrooms and vending machines. Nice overnight stop.

Great place to stay for a few nights. It's well kept and has everything you need.
The small town is a short walk away with a good shop. For more than that it's a quick drive to the next biggest town.

Steps to cross the border are the same as described by others, except that the exit ticket is now 3 USD, in addition to the 1USD payed at the door.

The BIG issue here was that Migración tried to charge us 15 USD for a permit to get the car out of the country. They were very rude and said we were not going to leave. It took a heated argument, two supervisors and reading the law to avoid the payment.

We have never heard of a car exit fee in Nicaragua and hope nobody else gets solicited, but be alert.

What a great place. We had a very nice meal here, not cheap, but really good!

And we asked if we could camp in their carpark if we ate and they agreed (Big Rig friendly).

Its adjacent to a busy road, but it quietened down after 10pm. Very peaceful night. Stayed two nights.

Changed to a more level spot this morning as we stayed on one more day for a day of R&R from NP touring. Between AT&T and Verizon, catching up on trip planning and posting. Beautiful weather so we're not baking in the sun. This location is very open with only low scrub; no trees. Abuts what looks like an abandoned shale quarry.
