here you can take the ferry to Antorrio. This safe you a few euro, because the bridge is 21 euro (higher then 2m) and the ferry is 6,50. So if you have no hurry. The ferry is a nicer and cheaper option then the bridge.

Just a little bit lower is a small lake with a perfectly flat spot and invisible from the main road. Across the lake up the hill are caves you can visit. Edit: we were kindly sent away by the border patrol around sunset. No camping allowed between sunset and sunrise within 7 kms of the border. We then set up camp next to the 2 radio masts on the hill close to Udabno. 360° fantastic view!

A launch I stopped at for the night to get some rest. park off to the side to allow use of the boat launch. Not a long term spot, but definitely a nice quiet one!

Family garden. We paid €13/night incl water/electra so if you need a refill for all your stuff, this is a great spot. Close to the lake and lots of bars/restaurants.

Parking place next to the Ski jump. Also restaurant here but probably opened in the peak seasons. Next to is stage and behind the stage is portable water and chemical toilets.
Spend night here and only few locals came to do some walks, runs…

About 2kms from the D212 tarred road on a dry river bed between some hills beautifully overlooking the valley and mountains.

You can get there by driving mostly over existing tracks, leaving the tarred road a few hundred meters more South. Partly follow the track along the power line to reach the place. We managed to get there with standard tyre pressure, slightly lower pressure would be easier and 4x4 recommended.

Great sky full of stars in the night and very quiet. From 3 sides surrounded by hills so almost no wind.

You can see some cars passing by in the distance but since the road is 2kms away, nobody will come to disturb you.

The closed road sign is still there at both ends of the road, but the gravel road has actually been repaired at all points that were washed away in February 2022.
At a few stretches there were still people working but you can pass everywhere easily, even with 2WD.
We enjoyed this route along the Oranje river!

This spot is perpendicular to the curb with trees, grass and a view behind. It is for a van or car! No big rigs. It appears to be across the street from a nursing home. We had no problems.

This place is definitely open, but access is currently only via Los Burros Road and then South Coast Ridge Road (about 15 miles off Hwy 1). Road is passable by any 4x4, but has numerous 12% grade sections and some 14%.

Walmart with large parking lot. There's a Lowe's nextdoor with a large lot as well, and Cracker Barrel in the same plaza. Several semis at Walmart. No signs indicating you couldn't park overnight, however we arrived after closing so couldn't confirm with the store. Nobody bothered us and it was relatively quiet in terms of Walmart parking lot stays.

“No Overnight Parking” signs posted. I arrived at 5 am, one vehicle looked like it’d been there all night. Didn’t see a washroom. Rowers arrive early for river access. Great day parking spot, especially if you have a bike!

5m a night for a double/twin room as at May 2022, bike parking at front door yes, if you can get there, otherwise bike parking is out front with no cameras

Small gas station with small Restaurant with delicious pasteis. With very clean showers and energy outlet to plug in. Posto 24hs

Really nice, quiet spot with huge sites. Plenty of wildlife and beautiful woods. A couple of warnings:

- Google directions can be totally unreliable. It tried to route us through closed private property multiple times. Make sure to follow the directions on the state park website.
- TONS of bugs and ticks. Make sure to check yourself often and bring proper equipment.
- Two other sites within a mile or two were using the forest as a shooting range. They stopped in the evening.
- It's $9 for a site but they charge a fee for reserving as well (I think $7?). If you stay multiple nights it is probably a wash but for one night it becomes more expensive.

Good place to spend the night! Take a shower and recharge batteries! Pasteis de queijo very tasty! A must!

Classic Walmart stay, but pretty quiet! Could hear a train and some generators from the building. I stayed on the side near the pickup and could reach the wifi.

We went in and asked and two clerks said it was non-potable. There’s no sign posting anything but we decided not to risk it.

Did not stay here because we did not feel welcome. We texted a few hours before we were expected to arrive to ask if they had space for us and if the restaurant was open.
They would not keep the restaurant open later than 6 pm without any prior payments…(we don’t have mpesa). We said we would arrive at 7, but they just said no exceptions.
So we decided to move on.

Very interesting place to relax a bit .Diesell available and thus important, because most of the station sometimes have not diesel fuel available or are closed ("fechadas"). Fill it up here to go into the mountains

For Angolan standards a good place to camp for a day or 2. We could plug into shore power for a change and had access to a kitchen, cold shower and toilet. In front of the house is a nice little beach with an old ship wreck - a good snorkelling place. The rate was Kw8000 for 2 people and a van.

We pulled up after close (8-8) it was 930, we left a note on the door and paid in the morning. This place is cash only. For 19$/night you can’t expect a crazy amount of amenities.

Small restaurant in the Parque Nacional Cumbres del Ajusco. 5 minutes walk from the start of various trails. The hike is amazing and you have a beautiful view of Mexico city and the surrounding. Plus it is dog friendly :)
Maria is very friendly host and you can sleep in the parking lot of the restaurant. You can use the bathroom even at night, and during the day, their wifi.
The food is very good, especially the sopas!
Very quiet at night and very dark, but completly safe !
There are 2 small rooms that you can rent as well.

Filled up 30 liters straight to the tank. He tried to register our tag, said he couldn't find it, and then we asked for the service without receipt. He said 'sure'. We left him some change for his kindness.

Two park rangers came by and said this is NOT AN OVERNIGHT place. If your lucky you may stay a night or two. I am here on a Thursday and they came by at 9am. There’s a boat launch ramp. Spots to fish. Beautiful picnic area with new restrooms and trash cans. There’s a couple more camp places up the road called rising star that’s $19 a night.
