I passed these pull offs today and wanted to add that the road is very dusty this time of year so you may want to think twice. If you care about gravel road dust, you may want to completely avoid the scenic drive.

We had good kuchen, cafe cortado and tea. Friendly service. We didn't try the other food.

Easy-in and easy-out but the lot fills up. I got the second to last spot at 6:30pm on a Sunday. I parked in the spot nearest to the coffee shop and had to use levelers. There's a clean path through the grass that's good for dog potty breaks but there is a big half open well and the attendant told me it was very dangerous for the dogs. This spot is right off the highway so keeping dogs on leash is a no-brainer.

By the grass it's a little smelly and buggy but it's fine for a night. Italian Coffee Co hours are 7a-11p and their wifi password is Cafecafe666.

There is a big restaurant on site as well. The friendly Pemex attendant didn't charge me to camp when I asked for permission to stay.

Checked four other campings nearby marked in Ioverlander and this is the only one still open. Guess it's already out of season..

I think I found here the cleanest and nicest toilet in our 14000 km journey so far. Bloss scent, desk, toilet paper, paper towels and liquid soap.

WiFi works.

A small unlevel pull off with the most amazing views. overnight stay is allowed but if you need to be level I wouldn't park here. 32ft motorhome fit ok but I felt like I was taking up way to much room so I'm going to say not big rig friendly. probably a great overnight spot if you aren't trying to keep a large craft level. if going east bound or west bound there are other larger parking places that are flat

Finally a pull off that is level and large enough for my 32ft motorhome. nice safe place for the night. close to highway but atleast I'm level. parked in the gravel area toward the west side of the area. great for a night. beautiful mountain views

We had 4 veggie tacos (grilled corn tortilla, cheese, cilantro, onion, guac), lime and she added a few raw whole radishes. Can confirm it was actually pretty good for something so basic. Charged 100 pesos. The couple were very friendly.

Huge parking lot in a massive shopping plaza. We stayed for about 12 hours on a Saturday night/Sunday morning. It was a bit noisy as it's a busy area and there are lots of loud cars, but nobody bothered us. Walmart hours are 6am - 11pm; bathrooms at the front of the store.

Very nice to sleep in here with our van, the hiking through the canyon is amazing. Also, the lady at the cafeteria lets you use the wifi when you buy something.

What happened to me could happen anywhere but it happened here.
I parked up around 9pm. The street was mostly empty except for a couple of regular cars. Someone drove by and honked their horn.
At 4:30am someone decided to bang on my van very hard 4 times, it sounded like a baseball bat, I was expecting to see a broken taillight or dents. They just drove off. It's sad, upset my dogs. Just up the road maybe a mile is a lookout point for the Golden gate bridge, I didn't the day there. There are no signs to indicate when you should leave but I guarantee you cannot over night there. Understandably tourist-y but still a nice view, picture included.

Sean Westwood says: The place is not officially open yet, we are still working on it. Please give me a call, before you come. Cel. 938 124 4089 or Mail [email protected].
I can tell you then if it is possible or not to stay here.
Since Sean and his friend are bildung here a really nice place with cabanas and some places for tents and rigs it is really needed to ask them. Don't be disappointed, if you just show up and there is no opportunity for you. They are really nice people and give their best to serve everybody. We were lucky and stayed here three nights just to enjoy the birds, the quiet and clean beach and the nice water with not too high waves. Maybe you are lucky too...but please ask first. Sean says thank you for that.

Good pricing on propane. Open Sunday. Hose is sorta short so you might have issues depending on fill location. My Camper fill is on driver side toward front so we fit.

Nice hotel with really reasonable price that provide you higher hotel standard rooms with nice clean bathroom and showers. Hotel is a bit old but nice and clean and with comfy beddings. 3star hotel for about $20 USD or so per night for a double bed room.

Delicious food. Beautiful view over river. Friendly and helpful staff. My dog was welcome. We stayed in charlet, small, but clean and enough (K515 pppn which I think is a little bit overprized, but ok). Not far from the main road between Lusaka and Malawi. Right next to a road with some trucks coming past sometime during night. No card facilities.

This camp site is great, but unfortunately, we had a really bad experience. We booked by airbnb, because it was impossible to reach them by any means (email, Facebook, phone). We paid on the app before coming. When we wanted to leave, he told us that he didn't get the money. We showed him that we paid, but he wanted more (in fact, the settings were not good on Airbnb. On the app, he asked us 20usd, for the group.) We were not ok to pay more, because we thought it was the good price (it is not our fault if the settings are wrong). When we decided it was time to go, he threatened us by saying he would call his team if we did. Basically we were held hostage. When we told him that we could call the police, he told us to do it because : "he knows them". In the end, we decided the safest option was to find a compromise and we payed a part of what he asked (all this time, we were in contact with Airbnb who were on our side). We understand he felt like this wasn't right, but it was his fault and the way he handled the situation was absolutely not normal.

Also, just so you know : "busurucollins" who made a great review on ioverlanders (14-02-2022) is the guy who threatened us!

It is in fact a great place (beautiful landscapes and, except the manager (Collins), a very friendly staff), but be sure to know the right price at arrival!

Price is NOT 18.000, it’s 20.000 because they add a „tourist tax“ of 1000 per person per night. I have attached the detailed pricelist for 22/23 in the pictures.
Nice bar/restaurant setting but you can enjoy that without taking a room.
Safe guarded motorbike/bicycle parking in the garden.
